How to add Avatar tests as learning objects?

Curricula for Corporate Learning supports the Avatar interactive Q&A learning object, enabling AI-driven oral practice or assessment between learners and an AI Avatar. This helps reduce the human resources required for training and assessment while lowering the cost of trial and error in real-world scenarios.

*Note: The Avatar learning object is disabled by default. To enable it, contact your MaivenPoint representative. Each tenant is allocated five Avatar attempts per month, with each attempt limited to five minutes. If you require additional attempts, please contact your MaivenPoint representative.

Course managers in an organisation can add an Avatar test as a learning object. Now let’s see how to add the Avatar test in Curricula.

1.   In Curricula, click Course on the left navigation pane, and find the course.

2.   Click Configure to open the Course configurations page.

3.   Locate a session in a learning path and click the learning object type Avatar test.

4.   In the Add Avatar test panel, complete the required settings.

The Add Avatar test panel.

Note the following settings:

    Avatar test settings

o    Avatar knowledge source – Select a reference material as the knowledge source. The test contents can be generated based on the selected material. This field is optional.

*Note: Only TXT, PDF, and Word files can be used for AI generation and marking.

o    What role does the Avatar simulate, and what does she need? – Specify the role you would like the Avatar to simulate, along with any particular requirements.

o    Where does the conversation take place? – Enter the location where you want the conversation test to take place. Avatar will generate a background image of this place, which will be shown to learners during the test. This field is optional.

o    What to assess? – Enter the assessment contents. Avatar can generate questions based on the configured contents.

o    Opening question or task statement – Manually enter questions, or click AI generate to generate questions based on the configured settings above.

*Note: If learners cannot answer a question, the Avatar will generate follow-up questions to guide them to provide as much input as possible, ensuring sufficient content for scoring. Up to five follow-up questions can be generated per question.

o    Model answer – Manually enter model answers, or click AI generate to generate answers based on the configured settings above.

o    Estimated time – Enter the estimated time of the learning object.

o    Time limit per response – Configure how long each answer is allowed. When the time limit is reached, learners will automatically proceed to the next question.

*Note: The maximum allowed time per response is 180 seconds.

o    Language – Select the desired language for Avatar. Avatar is configured to communicate in only one designated language.

Need to have score – Click Edit rubric to configure rubric criteria. Manually enter the criteria, or click AI generate to generate criteria based on the configured settings above. You can add at most 5 criteria.
